This semester I am teaching my ENGL 1302 (Comp 2) course by having my students do research on Graphic Novels.

One particular lesson has me engaging the students in examining McCloud’s Ch. 4 in an attempt to better understand how Time and Space operate within comic books/graphic novels:

McCloud talks about FOUR major ways of approaching this:
- The extra panel
- The multiple extra panels
- The elongated gutter space
- The elongated panel
One student really decided to get interesting with their spatial arrangement and “broke” out. I loved it.
So, here we are moving further and further along this path, let’s see where it leads us (me and the students both).
